Eco Spotlight: AIGA San Francisco Recycled Paper Event

MFA Fashion Design 2 students took part in AIGA San Francisco's (American Institute of Graphic Arts) annual fund raiser and fashion show called The Afterlife, Paper, Purgatory and the Great Beyond. On November 15th, almost 700 guests gathered at the SF Design Center, 101 Henry Adams Street, and viewed fashions created from 100% recycled paper.

Their biggest event of the year celebrates the creative unwasting of paper. The post-consumer paper designs and objets d'art were created by School of Fashion students and bay area designers.

Instead of plastic trays, compostable plates, napkins and cutlery made from corn and paper were used. All food trash from the event was composted. The event caterer, Greenleaf Platters, composts all food scraps, recycles all plastic, cans and cardboard that come through their kitchen and use low energy appliances and low flow water sprayers. Greenleaf Platters is a certified green business in Alameda County.
